Printer & WiFi Help in Woodstock, GA

The two most rage-inducing machines in any house: the printer that won’t print and the WiFi that dies in the back bedroom. Neither is a computer problem exactly — which is why hauling your laptop to a store counter never fixes them.

I’m Justin with Woodstock Computer Repair, and these are house-call problems by nature: I fix them where they live, in your home, with your actual equipment talking to your actual network.

Sound Familiar?

Printer Won't Print

Stuck queues, 'offline' printers that are clearly on, and jobs that vanish into the void — usually fixable in one visit.

New Printer Setup

Unboxed, connected to every computer and phone in the house, scanning configured, test page printed.

WiFi Dead Zones

Strong signal by the router, nothing in the bonus room — fixed with placement, settings, or a mesh setup done right.

Constant Dropouts

WiFi that works until it doesn't, every few hours — there's always a cause, and it's findable.

New Router Setup

Provider gave you a new box and now nothing connects? Everything moved over, renamed, and secured properly.

Smart Home Devices Won't Connect

Cameras, thermostats, and plugs that refuse to join the network — usually a band or settings issue I can sort out.

Fixed Where It Lives

Printer and network problems are environmental — they depend on your walls, your router's location, your provider's equipment, and the specific devices trying to talk to each other. That's why they're unfixable over the phone and pointless to 'bring into the shop.' The house call isn't an upsell here; it's the only method that works.

Most printer and WiFi visits wrap up in a single appointment, and you get plain-English notes on what changed so it stays fixed.

If the real answer is new hardware — a mesh system for a big house, a printer that isn't fifteen years old — I'll tell you what to buy at what price point, not the most expensive thing on the shelf. And I'll set it up when it arrives.

Turnaround: most hardware repairs are completed within about 24 hours — exact timing depends on the specific issue and, for replacements, parts availability for your model. You’ll always get an honest estimate of both cost and time before any work begins.

Warranty: every repair is backed by a 30-day workmanship warranty, and replacement parts carry their manufacturer’s warranty. If something I fixed acts up within a month, I come back and make it right.

Pricing: the most common repairs are flat fees, and everything else is $85 per hour plus parts, with the estimate confirmed up front. Free diagnostics, free phone consultation, and no trip charge. If it is not worth fixing, I will tell you that too.

Guarantee: if a fix I completed stops working, I come back and make it right. Simple as that.

My printer keeps dropping off the WiFi, and the router drops too

When the printer and the internet both drop, the printer is usually the victim, not the cause. A router that reboots on its own, a provider gateway with a signal fault, or a network that keeps handing devices between its 2.4 and 5 GHz bands will knock a printer offline every time. Reconnecting the printer once fixes nothing if the network underneath it keeps changing.

I fix this in the house because that is the only place it can be fixed. I check the router’s uptime and logs, the provider signal, the channel and band settings, where the router and printer actually sit, and then give the printer a fixed address so it stops wandering. If the router itself is failing, you get a straight recommendation on what to replace it with, and I set it up when it arrives.

What it costs

Printer or WiFi problems are a flat $85 in your home, no trip charge, and both in the same visit is still one visit. A new router or mesh system is set up the same way, with the hardware chosen for what your house needs, not the most expensive box on the shelf.

How fast

Most printer and WiFi calls are finished in one appointment, often the same day. You leave with plain notes on what changed so it stays fixed.

The guarantee

30-day warranty: if it drops again within a month, I come back. Before I leave, every phone and laptop in the house prints a test page.

By printer and network

HP printers

HP printers are the most common offline callers. HP Smart app pairing, HP+ printers that need an internet connection to print at all, and firmware that switches off the printer’s own WiFi Direct network show up weekly. A fixed address plus a clean driver reinstall fixes most of it.

Epson

Epson EcoTank and WorkForce printers hold a network setting well but lose it after a router change. Re-pairing from the printer’s own panel beats the app.

Brother

Brother laser printers are the most reliable on a network. When one drops, it is almost always the router side or a sleep setting.

Canon

Canon PIXMA printers drop when the router’s band steering moves them. Pinning them to the 2.4 GHz network solves it.

Xfinity, AT&T, and Spectrum gateways

Provider gateways combine modem and router, reboot on their own, and change settings after firmware updates. I read the gateway’s own status page for signal problems that are the provider’s job to fix, so you know who to call.

Eero, Google, and other mesh systems

Mesh fixes dead zones, but the apps hide the settings printers need. I set the printer’s reservation in the mesh app and, in a big house, put the printer on the node it actually sits near.

Have this ready when you call or text

  • Printer brand and model
  • Who your internet provider is, and whether the router is theirs
  • Whether other devices drop at the same time
  • Roughly when it started: a new router, a new provider, a storm
  • Whether the printer is wireless or used to be on a cable

“Justin Johnson, owner, took my call and scheduled an immediate service call for my 88-year-old Mom and for me and my husband. He was able to solve connectivity problem for her at her assisted living… He had to make a computer supply run to get her printer operational and even picked her up a ream of paper. He did not add any additional fee to his extended service call… Professional, friendly, affordable, and thorough. Highly recommend Justin.”

FAQs

Why does my printer say offline when it's on?

Usually a communication breakdown between the computer and printer — drivers, network changes, or Windows queue weirdness. It's one of the most common things I fix, and it rarely means the printer is broken.

Can you make WiFi reach my whole house?

Almost always — through better router placement, settings, or a properly configured mesh system. I'll diagnose which one your house actually needs before recommending anything.

My internet is slow. Is it my WiFi or my provider?

Great question — and testable. I measure what's coming into the house versus what your devices actually get, so you know whether to fix the network or call the provider.

Do you set up brand-new printers and routers?

Yes — setup visits are routine. Everything connected, secured, and tested before I leave.

My parent lives in a senior community — can you help there?

Yes, and it's one of my most common calls. Assisted-living and community WiFi networks have quirks that confuse printers and computers; I can hard-wire equipment so it stays on its own reliable connection, and I'm patient with residents by nature. Family members often book on a parent's behalf — happy to coordinate directly with the community's front desk.
