Every smart home problem is secretly a Wi-Fi problem, an account problem, or both. That's good news: those are exactly the things I fix for a living. Before any device goes on a wall, I make sure your network can actually support it — which is why my installs stay "online" after I leave.
One honest boundary: I install devices on existing, standard wiring — thermostat swaps, wired doorbells, lock retrofits. If your setup needs new electrical runs, a C-wire added, or anything a licensed electrician should touch, I'll tell you exactly that and help you find one, rather than improvising with your house.
And the part most installers skip: before I leave, you get a plain-English walkthrough on your own phone — how to see the camera, change the temperature, add a guest code — repeated until it sticks. Patient walkthroughs are kind of my thing.
Turnaround: most hardware repairs are completed within about 24 hours — exact timing depends on the specific issue and, for replacements, parts availability for your model. You’ll always get an honest estimate of both cost and time before any work begins.
Warranty: every repair is backed by a 30-day workmanship warranty, and replacement parts carry their manufacturer’s warranty. If something I fixed acts up within a month, I come back and make it right.
Pricing: the most common repairs are flat fees, and everything else is $85 per hour plus parts, with the estimate confirmed up front. Free diagnostics, free phone consultation, and no trip charge. If it is not worth fixing, I will tell you that too.

Short version: if your family uses iPhones everywhere, Apple. If you already own an Echo or Nest device, stay in that family. Starting fresh? Call me before you buy — the free consultation includes shopping advice, and I don't sell hardware, so the answer is whatever fits your house.
My camera or doorbell keeps saying "offline." Fixable?
Almost always — and it's usually Wi-Fi coverage at the device's location, not a bad device. I measure the signal where it hangs and fix the actual cause instead of re-pairing it for the fifth time.
Do you do the physical installation — thermostats, doorbells?
Yes, on standard existing wiring: thermostat swaps, wired doorbell replacements, lock retrofits on an existing deadbolt. Anything that needs new wiring or a breaker panel gets a licensed electrician — I'll say so on the free call so there are no surprise walk-aways.
Can you set it up so my parents can actually use it?
