How Virus Removal Works
First I identify what's actually on the machine — adware, spyware, trojans, or a full ransomware situation each get handled differently. Then I remove the infection at the root, clean up the browsers and startup programs it dragged in, and get your security updates current.
In most cases this happens without wiping your computer — your photos, documents, and programs stay put. If a machine is damaged enough that a fresh start is genuinely the better option, I back up your files first and tell you exactly why before doing anything.
Before I leave, you get practical, plain-English advice on avoiding a repeat: what those fake warnings look like, which 'free' downloads to skip, and whether your current antivirus is actually doing its job.
Turnaround: most hardware repairs are completed within about 24 hours — exact timing depends on the specific issue and, for replacements, parts availability for your model. You’ll always get an honest estimate of both cost and time before any work begins.

My computer got slow and keeps showing popups saying it’s infected
Most of those popups are not a virus at all. They are browser notifications and fake “your PC is infected” pages built to make you call a number or install something. The slowdown is real, though: adware, unwanted programs, and a browser full of junk extensions drag a machine down even when nothing malicious has taken hold. The one thing not to do is call the number on the screen.
At your home I find what is actually running, remove the infection or the junk at the root, clean out the browsers and startup programs, and bring updates and protection current. In most cases your files never move and the machine is noticeably faster before I leave. If a full reinstall is genuinely the better path, you hear why first and your files are backed up before anything is wiped.
What it costs
Virus and malware removal is a flat $100, in your home, no trip charge. If the machine also needs a tune-up or an operating system repair, those are flat fees too ($75 and $85), and I tell you which one applies before starting.

By what you’re running
Windows 11 and Windows 10
Windows Security is enough for most homes when it is actually running. Half the “infected” machines I see have it switched off by an expired trial antivirus that is now itself the popup. Windows 10 stopped getting security updates in October 2025, which changes the advice for older machines.
Mac
Macs get adware and browser hijackers far more than true viruses. Fake “your Mac is infected” pages, profile-based hijacks, and search redirects are cleaned without reinstalling macOS.
Chromebook
A Chromebook rarely has a real infection. Popups there are almost always a bad extension or a notification permission, and a powerwash is the last resort, not the first.
HP, Dell, and Lenovo preloads
New HP, Dell, and Lenovo laptops ship with trial antivirus and support apps that nag once they expire and slow the machine the whole time. Removing them properly is part of the cleanup.
After a fake support call
If someone already had remote control of the machine, the remote software they left behind is removed and your passwords get changed from a clean device. If money changed hands, your bank is the first call, before me.
Phones and tablets
The same fake warnings show up on iPhones and Android phones as browser popups. They clear by closing the tab and clearing the browser’s site data, and I will check the phone while I am there if you want.
